An Introduction to the SKX007’s Baby Brother: The SKX013

SKX007 vs SKX013 Comparison

Since it was introduced back in 1996, the Seiko SKX line of watches has become the go-to line for avid dive watch collectors. Why is this so? Well, not only were the SKX watches incredibly beautiful and well-made, but they were also super affordable compared to the competition. In fact, not many brands, if any, can match Seiko’s bang for the buck with the SKX!

That being said, the most popular model of all the SKX lines is the Seiko SKX007. This name alone might be a name you recognize. Looks-wise, it sports a black dial with a black bezel with a 43mm case size. This alone gives it a Submariner-ish look. For many people, this was their end-all-be-all watch. However, how about those with tinier wrists? Do they have to miss out on all the wonderful things the SKX007 had to offer? Not quite.

While people with smaller wrists will have a tough time trying to wear the SKX007 sensibly, the good news is that its smaller brother, the SKX013, exists! It essentially is the smaller version of the SKX007, measuring 38mm.

Today, we want to talk more about the SKX013, sharing with you everything there is to know about this amazing watch:

An Introduction to the SKX007’s Baby Brother: The SKX013

The SKX013, thanks to its much smaller size, was the go-to watch for those who loved the SKX007 but had to be dealt a smaller wrist. The SKX013 uses an in-house automatic movement, the 7S26, and it has an ISO rate of 200 meters. On the 4 o’clock side, a big crown sits, giving the SKX013 its iconic look. As for the crystal, it is made out of Hardlex.

Taking a look at the watch’s case and bezel they’re made out of stainless steel, showing off alternate brushed and polished surfaces that are incredibly attractive and sleek. The case design features plenty of curves, with contrasting flat lungs that can be obviously spotted on its side. On top of the case, you’ll find a polished chamfer that runs on both sides of the case, giving it a classy look. On the bezel, you’ll find its inserts with dots all around it. This is, to many, arguably the best thing about the bezel itself.

Now, delving into the dial, you’ll find a cool matte dark gray that contrasts with the pure black parts of the watch. This design gives it amazing legibility despite any condition. At the 3 o’clock side, you find the day and date window, and at the 6 o’clock, you find the orange-etched “Diver’s 200m” text. As for the hands, the SKX013 shares the same hands as the SKX007, apart from the second hand.

Going to the bracelet the SKX013 offers a Jubilee bracelet that’s fitted to the case. Their small links make it super comfortable to wear, and the polished center links give it an incredibly luxurious look. As for the clasp, they offer micro-adjustments that allow anyone with almost any wrist size to find the perfect fit. It also features a double-locking system, meaning that it will never come off unless you want it to.

Conclusion

And there you have it! That’s just a brief introduction to the wonderful SKX013. From words alone, we worry that you might not be able to enjoy the wonders that the watch has. As such, we highly recommend that you take a look at one by yourself. And, if you’re a watch modder, you’re in luck.
